Most Popular Baby Names for 2007

I remember when I was in school there were about 10 Jennifer's, Jessica's and Kelly's. Back in 1982 these were the top trends in baby names. Now as a newborn baby photographer I have noticed a new trend in baby names. Last year it was "surnames" like Riley, Jackson and Carter. This year it's all about vintage and bringing back classic names. There are some truly beautiful baby names this year, especially when it comes to girl names. I can honestly say that 1 out of every 10 girls that I photograph are named Olivia. Olivia is probably the most popular girl name this year! Olivia is an English name, meaning Elf Army. Although the meaning may be a bit strange the name it's self is beautiful and probably the most popular baby girl name this year! Another very popular, vintage girl name is Sophia. Sophia meaning "wisdom" is of Greek origin. This is a beautiful very vintage name. In fact when I hear the name Sophia I sometimes think of the clever old woman from the Golden Girls. Another popular girls name is Isabelle, which is French and means "God is my oath". This is a great religious name which always classic. Some other popular baby girl names are Eva, Maddison, Addison, Emily and Abigail. These are all very classic names. As far as boy names go many of the most popular names can be found in the bible! You really can't get any more classic then with biblical names such as Caleb, hebrew meaning rage like a dog. Another biblical name that is growing in popularity is Noah, also Hebrew meaning rest of peace. Probably one of the most popular baby names right now is Jacob, also Hebrew meaning supplanter. Mathew, also a biblical name is very popular this year. Some other non biblical names that are growing in popularity are Logan, Zander or Xander, and Owen.

Another growing trend in baby names this year is multiple middle names. I have had parents list up to 4 middle names for their baby this year! And it is not uncommon to hear 2 middle names, it's definitely becoming the "norm" so to speak. Although this is a growing trend, keep in mind that you child will one day have to learn to spell and write their entire name! With so many beautiful vintage names to choose from who can decide?! I hope that my article has helped you in your baby name decision making!
